AFTER 260 gruelling miles, Ashley Vickers can finally put his feet up.
The Dorchester Town boss has successfully completed his charity trek to Land’s End, running and cycling the entire distance from the Avenue Stadium to the world-famous location.
In doing so, the 39-year-old has raised more than £1,000 for Marie Curie Cancer Care, the charity which helped care for his mother Kathleen during her sadly unsuccessful battle with cancer.
Vickers, who shook off an Achilles injury towards the end of his seven-day challenge, said: “It’s definitely the hardest thing I have done and I’m still suffering.
“My Achilles gave up on the penultimate day so I just got on the bike and got cracking.
“It’s something that both my dad and I have spoken about before and we always wanted to raise money for a cause that has been so good to us.
“Personally it was a challenge and I like that sort of thing, so it fitted perfectly. I’m happy to say I made it and there is a great sense of achievement.
“I just hope we get a good amount of sponsorship money for Marie Curie.
“I’ve had a lot of supportive messages for which I’m grateful and I would also like to thank Tom Richardson and Andy Knowles who joined me on parts of the journey.
“Dad was great support as well and we had some nice meals and chats in the evenings. It was nice to spend so much time together as we don’t always get the chance to do so.”
