CAME Down professional Matt Walker has propelled himself into the top 30 order of merit in the TP Tour Series.
The competition, which was launched in April, sees club professionals take part in a selection of one-day events at top-class venues around the country.
It is also endorsed by former Ryder Cup star and ex-European number one Ronan Rafferty, who is the tour’s ambassador.
Walker’s first outing in the series saw him travel to Stoke Park in Stoke Poges.
The Buckinghamshire club is not only seen as a fantastic golf course but it is also renowned as a famous film location for such movies as Goldfinger, Tomorrow Never Dies and Layer Cake, to name just a few.
The conditions were very tough with high winds proving to be a real challenge in controlling the ball around the Parkland course.
Walker settled well though and eventually finished tied second from a field of 50 professionals.
His gross score of 74 was a fantastic effort and was just two shots off the winning score of level par 72.
With over 100 professional golfers in the order of merit, the fact Walker has now climbed into the top 30 has given him huge confidence ahead of next week’s PGA Europro Tour at Burhill Golf Club, Surrey.
