TOM Manley insists he has “unfinished business” at Weymouth after being offered a new deal for next season.
The talented keeper, who was unable to feature in the final few months of last season due to work commitments, has held talks with George Rolls and is keen to sign his contract as soon as possible.
Manley told Echosport: “I am hoping to be down there again next season. I spoke to George Rolls on Saturday and he offered me a deal, and now I am just waiting for him to email the contract through.
“I feel I have a bit of unfinished business at Weymouth and I am really looking forward to it.
“The fact the club managed to stay up was just fantastic and without the disadvantage of starting with a 10-point deduction this season, I am sure we can go on and have a really encouraging campaign.
"With the likes of Warren Byerley, Jamie Beasley and Matt Groves all looking to stay as well, the future looks bright and we know if we start well it will bring more fans back, which would be fantastic for the club.”
Manley went on to add: “I absolutely loved it down there last season even when we suffered a couple of heavy defeats.
“The pitch is good, the stadium is nice and the fans always got behind us despite everything they have been through.
“Their commitment and support was absolutely fantastic and I just cannot wait to get out there and play in front of them again.”
The Terras’ board is still holding talks with the various candidates for the manager’s job ahead of tonight’s sponsors’ evening at the Bob Lucas Stadium (7pm), where fans and sponsors, both old and new, are invited to attend.
Manley said: “Hopefully that situation will get sorted out sooner rather than later so the manager can get in and start taking it forward, whoever it may be.
“It would be nice if it was Martyn Rogers again because he is someone I have known and admired for a while but there are a lot of other good names in the running as well, so we will just have to see what happens.”
