DEWLISH’S devastating start to the Dorchester Evening League season shows no sign of relenting.
The Division One leaders maintained their grip on top spot and booked their spot in the quarter-finals of the Knockout Cup.
Quenton Miller (64) was the star of the show as Dewlish (179-4) stayed two points clear at the summit with victory over basement boys Hazelbury Bryan (117-7).
It was Justin Miller (6-25) who stole the headlines in their cup triumph, with Dewlish (130) narrowly getting the better of lower league Abbotsbury (126-8).
Tom Hewish (53) also chipped in with a half-century.
St George’s (105-5) remain firmly on the heels of Dewlish, two points behind but with a game in hand, following a fairly comfortable win against previously unbeaten, and former holders of second spot, Martinstown (103-6).
Mark James (2-18) helped restrict the latter before Richard Runyard (39 not out) top-scored in the Saints’ reply.
Cerne Valley (126-5) notched their first win of the top-tier campaign in a tense bottom-of-the-table clash with Hazelbury (101-5).
Alfie Fitzgerald (50) plundered a fine half-century but it was not enough to help propel the latter to victory.
Cattistock are now the outright leaders in Division Two.
The table-toppers (113) came out on top in a five-run thriller against Puddletown (108) while nearest rivals Charlton Down (100-7) fell to their first loss of the year – at the hands of the latter (104-5).
Jamie Barrett recorded figures of 4-22 as Puddletown recovered from their defeat to Cattistock.
A superb all-round display from J Hurford, who snared 4-15 before plundering 39 not out, saw Frampton (99-2) open their account against Abbotsbury (98-7).
That win also lifted them off the foot of the table, with Plush (123-8) now occupying bottom spot after their defeat to Winfrith (191-3).
Simon Allen (62) and Alex Clothier (5-26) inflicted the major damage.
Stuart Beasley (105 not out) was in inspired form as his unbeaten century fired Colliton Club (182-3) to victory over Puddletown RFC (86-7) in Division Three.
It is Churches United (117-3) who continue to lead the way, however. United’s latest triumph came against Puddletown Reserves (70) – a game in which M Boggust snared 5-19 for the victors.
