ROSS Moors, managing director of Bright Sparks electrical contractors, has agreed to sponsor the Dorchester & District Evening League Under-18 competition for a third season since its resurrection, having last been played in 1956.

Competition co-organiser Lee House, said: “Thanks to the generosity and support of Bright Sparks and Ross Moors, the lads from the six clubs will have a chance to showcase their talents against each other in a series of competitive 20-over games played within the spirit of cricket.”

Cerne Valley will no doubt be the team to topple having won the previous two competitions without losing a single match.

However, they will face tough competition from Dorchester, Weymouth, Portland Red Triangle, Hazelbury Bryan and Martinstown.

The tournament was expanded for the 2010 competition, with each side playing one another once with the top two clubs meeting in a final played at the end of August.

Moors said: “I am delighted to continue our association with this vibrant competition. I have seen a few of the games and the standard is excellent and the sportsmanship displayed is impeccable.

“There are many quality young cricketers in the area who need a competition like this to bridge the gap between under-15 and adult cricket. Let’s hope the weather stays sunny and we have some cracking matches.”

House added: “The Dorchester & District Evening League committee have been brilliant in supporting this competition, and this gives the competition stature, focus and organisation.

“Thanks also to the coaches and managers at each club that make this competition possible.”
