THE third Will Mackaness Charity Tennis Tournament helped raise £1,115 towards Dorset County Hospital’s Digital Mammography Appeal.
Twenty-six pairs, ranging in age from nine to over 60, took part in the annual event that was held at both Weymouth Tennis Club and Wey Valley School.
The day proved great fun with many players opting for fancy dress, with the likes of Pinocchio, Michael Jackson, Gangsters, Tasm-anian Devil and the Cat in the Hat, making a special appearance.
In the end, the Will Mack-aness Perpetual Trophy was won by Chris Westhead and Kieron Morrissey, who defeated Chris Davis and Ryan Bissett 6-2.
The trophies were presented by Anne-Marie Male and Pam Govier.
A spokesperson said: “As ever, a lot of work is carried out before, during and after an event and a big thank you goes to everyone who contributed to make this a very enjoyable day, raising money for such a worthy cause.
“There is a lot to live up to next year.”
The event was supported by over 25 local businesses, with the raffle alone raising £401, while the balls were sponsored by Weymouth Tennis Club coach Julien Lawes.
