SEAN Walbridge has opted to go with a more youthful approach in a bid to kick-start his side’s MCCA Knockout Trophy campaign.
Following back-to-back defeats against Oxfordshire and Herefordshire, the Dorset boss has sensationally dropped experienced campaigners Darren Cowley and Glyn Treagus for tomorrow’s must-win clash at Bedfordshire.
James Park has also been left out as part of the dramatic shake-up while Simon Watkins and Dorch-ester’s Dan Belt are both unavailable.
Walbridge, whose side were in Twenty20 action yesterday evening against the Gloucester Gladiators, said: “We are looking to go with a more youthful side for this match, which is very much a must-win for us.
“Leg spinner Max Waller, pace bowler Mitch Wilson, and batsmen Chris Jones and Josh Lawrence all come in for this one, along with all-rounder Mark Wolstenholme, who will be making his competitive debut after joining this week from Northampton Saints.”
Dorset will also take on reigning domestic Twenty20 champions the Hampshire Royals at Dean Park on Monday (2.30pm).
And a huge crowd is expected after Hampshire confirmed a strong squad for the match, which includes the likes of Jimmy Adams, Shahid Afridi, Imran Tahir, Dimi Mascarenhas and Dominic Cork.
Ticket prices for Monday’s game are £50 for a school or club ticket (two adults and 10 children), £20 for a family ticket (two adults and two children), £10 for adults, and £5 for children, students and OAPs. Dorset CCC members can gain free entry on production of their membership.
