Dorchester & District ABC ace Kieron Clewett was in devastating form at Devon.
Clewett, although starting as the underdog, was determined to take the winner’s trophy back with him to Dorchester.
J Chynworth (Pilgrims), full of confidence, kicked off the show in dominant fashion.
But Clewett’s tremendous condition and fitness played a vital role in the outcome of the bout.
Despite blocking most of the county town boxer’s jabs, Chynworth still left him- self open and Clewett pounced with some big shots that brought loud gasps from the capacity crowd.
The pair swapped some hefty blows in the second round before Clewett’s speed put him in control.
Chynworth mounted a titanic battle but his corner could see that he was clearly on the back foot and threw in the towel, leaving Clewett a deserving victor.
Stable-mate Jamie Gosney was booked to box K Avery (Barnstaple) but his opponent failed to show.
Coach Ben Geyser said: “It was disappointing that Jamie didn’t box but Kieron cheered up the evening with his superb boxing.
“The whole tournament was a great success, displaying some brilliant up and coming boxers.”
