A FINE all-round display from Dorset ace Dan Belt maintained Dewlish’s hold on top spot in Dorchester Evening League Division One.

Belt plundered an unbeaten 85 as the table-toppers tallied an impressive 156-2, before snaring 3-2 to restrict Herrison Youth to 129-8.

That win followed a similar triumph for Dewlish (137-7) against Hazelbury Bryan (106-6).

Belt’s former club Martinstown (106-2) are joint second, with a game in hand, after Ed Nichols’ (58) half-century and Liam Banfield’s (4-35) four-wicket haul propelled them to victory over Bere Regis (102).

Also boasting two wins from two are reigning champions St George’s.

The Saints closed on 100-7, thanks in part to Craig Kellaway’s (4-26) efforts, but Cerne Valley (75-5) fell short of their target.

Cerne (166-2) enjoyed better fortunes in the Knockout Cup as a superb knock from Neil Kellaway (75no) helped see off the challenge of Winfrith (151-6).

Ben Meaden (69no) also starred with the willow as Bere Regis (161-3) dumped Hazelbury Bryan (159-5) out of the competition.

Also through to the quarter-finals are Martinstown Seconds (146-2), who overcame Plush (145-9) courtesy of Sam Kershaw (51no) and Chris Monteith (4-26).

Cattistock and Charlton Down continue to lead the way in the second tier.

The former (124-6) got the better of Abbotsbury (101-7) while the latter (121-6) beat Frampton (103-8).

Churches United (84-1) remain at the Division Three summit after breezing past Puddletown RFC (83-8).

Second-placed Martinstown Seconds (108-7) gained a three-wicket triumph over their Charlton Down counterparts while Stuart Beasley registered an unbeaten 53 in Colliton Club’s (99-1) defeat of Puddletown Reserves (96-8).
