SEVERAL local businessmen are pulling together in a bid to keep Warren Byerley at Weymouth FC.
With Salisbury City and Dorchester Town having both shown a keen interest in the striker, many Terras’ fans have been expecting the 26-year-old to move on this summer but it appears he could still stay despite the recent departure of boss Martyn Rogers.
A club statement reads: “Several local businessmen have pulled together in order to offer Warren Byerley a contract and having spoken to him on Saturday he has intimated he would be very keen to sign.
“Simon Etherington from GMS Plumbing & Heating, Paul Cocks from Café Oasis and Shaun Hennessy from Blondz, along with George Rolls and the Weymouth FC Suppor-ters Association, have all pledged sponsorship to offer him a deal that still sits within the playing budget we have already set.
“We would like to thank all those people and their firms for their support and we are now hoping to see Warren put pen to paper later this week.”
