RYAN Stout has been invited to join the Great Britain Development Squad and as a consequence will not be able to defend his Weymouth Beach Volleyball title.
The talented teenager will train with the squad every Tuesday evening, throwing the race for this year’s A League title wide open.
Without Ryan it was left to his father, Jules Stout, to keep up the family name and playing alongside Terry Oldrid he duly obliged by beating Elliott Sawyer and Dom Cosserat 15-12 in the final to take an early lead in the race for the crown.
However, the triumphant duo did not have it all their own way with 18-year-olds Ali Mitchell and Jaffa Williamson having toppled them 15-13 earlier in the evening to win their first-ever A Series match.
The B Series was also well contested with Mat Palmer and Mike Kerslake coming out on top by defeating Martin O’Neill and 16-year-old Lewis Edwards 15-12.
All the players will be back on the sands opposite Alexandra Gardens next Tuesday and new teams are always welcome. Registration takes place on the night between 6pm and 6.30pm.
