WEYMOUTH’S Geoff Blake bagged a brace at the second weekend of hillclimbing at Wiscombe Park – finishing ahead of his father Graham in the process.
Contesting the over 1800cc division of the Modified Specialist Production Car class, the South Dorset duo claimed back-to-back one-twos with Blake junior, in his Westfield SEi, taking the win on both occasions.
The margin between the pairing at the end of the first meeting was 2.34 seconds with Geoff making his best climb in 42.93 seconds.
The following day a determined Graham closed the margin to 1.94 seconds with the class winner finding a further 13 hundredths of a second.
In the large capacity racing car class, Frampton’s Rod Thorne continued his re-acclimatisation to single-seater racing cars by taking a class win in his Pilbeam MP58.
Thorne will have the opportunity to claim two further Fastest Time of the Day awards this weekend at the Wool-bridge Motor Club two-day meeting at Wiscombe Park.
Thorne will be supported by fellow Framptonite Colin Pook in the Judd engine car but they will face stern opposition from the father and son combination of John and Andrew Forsyth with their MP58, which is powered by a Cosworth unit.
As usual a full supporting cast of saloons and sports cars both in road-going and modified forms will be entertaining.
Gates open for the practice runs at 10am with the competitive event starting after a lunch break.
Wiscombe Park is situated north of Blackberry Camp and will be sign-posted from Honiton and on the A3052.
