WEYMOUTH have received a major boost to their batting line-up with the return of Andy Jarvis and Ben Lawes.

The deadly duo will be making their first appearances of the season tomorrow as the Seasiders travel to third-placed Broadstone (1.30pm).

Club stalwart Dave Trotter, who marks his return from injury with a call-up to the seconds, said: “As far as I’m concerned Andy is possibly one of the best bats in the club.

“He leads by example and is an inspiration to all the players.

“Ben is also a class player and it will be interesting to see what the first-team batting order is as they have a cracking side this weekend.”

Also coming into the side is bowler Simon Browne. Trotter added: “Simon is proving himself to be a great economical bowler.

“It’s not just about taking wickets but keeping runs down in order to allow the batsmen to go out and win the game.”

Weymouth enter tomorrow’s Dorset Premier League fixture in buoyant mood after securing their first win of the season last weekend.

Paul Payne’s men were all out for 199 but restricted opponents Ferndown Wayfarers to 178 in reply.

However, one of Saturday’s key performers – batsman Tom England – is absent tomorrow, along with Jonny Armfield.
