THE efforts of Dave Allan and Mark Sample were hailed at Weymouth RFC’s annual prize-giving event at Monmouth Avenue.
Allan, who is hanging up his boots after two decades at the club due to a neck injury, was presented with photos of his early playing days and an RFU VIP tie for his dedication to the game of community Rugby.
Sample also received several shots from the past year after taking the decision to step down as first-team captain in order to go travelling.
Club president Des Quick and chairman Glyn Arnold made both presentations and thanked the duo for their hard work and commitment.
Several other awards were also handed out on the night with Will Hughes grabbing the top gong of First XV Player of the Year for his versatility and willingness to play in any position.
The second-team equivalent went to Tom Moate while Chris Calton scooped the third-team prize.
Tim Peplow was named Most Improved.
