Dorchester Middle School’s Year Seven football team bagged their second trophy of the year with victory in the South West Dorset Area final.
Having already secured the five-a-side crown, the county town team showed their strength in depth by edging Beaminster School 1-0 in the 11-a-side showpiece at Dorchester Town’s Avenue Stadium.
Perpetual attacks from both sides, coupled with resolute defending, saw the first half end goalless.
DMS kept plugging away and their inventive play was finally rewarded when George Carroll netted the all-important goal.
Manager Matt Roberts declared: “This was a fitting venue for two very impressive school teams. It was simply the solidarity and esprit de corps that DMS possessed that divided these two schools.”
DMS: Andrew Ennals, Tom Blair, Ryan Bascombe, Tom Mead, Billy Evans, Danny Kelly, Felix Price, Chris Rads, Alfie Dal Din, George Carroll, Ellis Newberry, Jordan Bradford, Josh Moore, Jack Rowland.
