FOUR girls from St Osmund’s Middle School, Dorchester have secured their place in the national final of the English Schools Relays Competition.
Gemma Baker, Eilis Martin, Lauren Oddy and Louise Woodrow have qualified for the finals to be held at Sheffield in June.
After competing at The Quays in Southampton, against schools from Dorset, Hampshire and Sussex, the girls gained silver medals in two relay events, the 4x25m individual medley and the 4x25m freestyle.
The quartet are all members of West Dorset Warriors Swimming Club and train regularly throughout the week.
They are now setting time aside to increase their training for this prestigious event.
Head of PE Martyn Bagwell said: “We are all extremely proud of the girls and know how hard they train.
“This is an excellent opportunity for them to shine and we are totally supportive of them for this event.”
The girls are very excited about representing their school at national level and are looking forward to competing against the best swimmers in England.
