DAN Belt is eager to prove his match-winning credentials to the county selectors following Dorset’s five-wicket defeat against Herefordshire at Redlands.
The Dorchester all-rounder shared a last-wicket stand of 30 alongside opener Nick Park and claimed 1-34 off 7.1 overs, but he knows he can produce a lot more.
Belt told Echosport: “The big downside was the way we batted and even after that we were unable to apply any pressure with the ball.
“We just didn’t try and make anything happen and instead just let it slip by us.
“However, we cannot afford to dwell on it and hopefully in the next two games we can try and rediscover some form.
“For me personally, those matches will be about trying to make a big impact.
“I need to show people that I am capable of winning a game for Dorset with either bat or ball.”
Dorset are currently bottom of group three in the MCCA Trophy but can still qualify for the knockout stages if they beat Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire in their remaining two games.
