MARTYN Rogers will make a decision on his future at the Terras in the coming days after the board finally issued him with the 2011/12 playing budget.
The Weymouth boss, who led the club to Zamaretto Premier Division safety this season, will mull over his options over the weekend and the club’s hierarchy remains hopeful he will stay.
A club statement reads: “As was agreed at the recent fans’ forum, the club has decided to live within its means and the budget has been set.
“Martyn Rogers now needs to decide whether he can work with that budget or not and the board is hopeful he will stay.
“We have also already received some season-ticket applications and it is hoped we will hit the 100-mark we have budgeted for ahead of next season.
“There is a real feel-good factor at the club at the moment and we hope that continues.”
Rogers is currently away but did tell Echosport on Thursday that he expects the situation to be sorted out by the middle of next week.
He said: “It goes without saying that I would like as big a budget as possible but I also understand the financial situation at the club and whatever the budget is, it has to be in the best interests of Weymouth FC.”
Commenting further on the matter, assistant-manager Brendon King added: “I know what Martyn wants as a budget and as I understand talks are still ongoing.
“However, I think it is clear that what the club needs to do is consolidate for a couple of years and build towards a big push after that.
“We need to get all the different factions pulling in the same direction and singing off the same hymn sheet.
“The last few seasons have been a bit of a merry-go-round and we need to buck that trend and inject some stability into the place, which I think is massively important if we want to start progressing up the leagues again.”
Meanwhile, the club has contacted the Southern League and informed officials of its decision to revert midweek matches at the Bob Lucas Stadium back from Thursday to Tuesday evenings for 2011/12.
