DORSET Disabled Cricket Club get the new County Championship season underway at Dorchester Rec tomorrow (1pm).
Newcomers Kent are the visitors for tomorrow’s opening fixture and Dorset enter the clash in high spirits.
Several of the home squad have warmed up for the new campaign with fine performances for England.
Firstly, six Dorset members travelled to Lord’s for two games with Wales.
Debutant Tom Griffith made 25 before enforced retirement and Michael Chant of Sherborne snared 4-19 as England triumphed in the first match by four wickets.
In the afternoon clash, Wales made 82-8 in 20 overs.
But England surpassed that total with Bridport’s Steve Wiltshire unbeaten on 27 and Callum Tucker of Charminster likewise on 26.
Wales were the opponents once more at Old Trafford in an A-team fixture.
In the morning, six Dorset players took part in a pairs game, which saw two batsmen facing four overs apiece.
England batted first and totalled 128-4 in 20 overs with Griffith making 25, Louis Mountain 18, Mark Pickersgill 15, Simon Penny 10, Chant eight and Jack Watkins two.
In reply, Wales lost wickets regularly and were skittled for 68, losing 14 wickets in total.
Griffith took 3-2 in two overs, Pickersgill claimed 2-10 in two overs, Mountain snared 1-5 off the same amount of overs while Watkins recorded 1-8.
