BRIDPORT will be out to bury the disappointment of Thursday night’s “catalogue of errors” at Westland Sports this afternoon when they wrap up their Magna Dorset Premier League campaign against Sherborne Town Reserves at St Mary’s Field (3pm).
The Bees gifted Sports four goals in the last 20 minutes at Alvington and boss Steve Crabb insists his young starlets must start learning from their mistakes if they are to continue making progress.
Commenting on the 5-0 defeat in Somerset, the second-string boss said: “For an hour we were okay but then we committed suicide by gifting them four goals.
“It was just a catalogue of errors really.
The second goal came from a breakaway that we failed to clear, the third was a 25-yard effort that went through our keeper’s legs, the fourth came from a back-pass that was intercepted, and the fifth was a penalty given away by Chris Herbst.
“There is no doubt that Westland deserved the win but 5-0 was certainly a bit flattering. However, that is what you get when you gift chances to the top teams and we need to learn from that, particularly if we want to compete with the elite and break into the top six next season.”
Adam Steele, Robin Jones and Sam Day all missed the trip to Sports and will no doubt be keen to help their side finish the season on a high by toppling Sherborne today.
