JON and Steven Welch will both be handed the chance to impress as Chickerell United aim to go out with a bang at home to Westland Sports tomorrow (3pm).
The Chickens bring the curtain down on an inconsistent campaign without key personnel in the form of Dan Skelton, Adam Skelton, Rob Maxted and Brendan Kelly.
The quartet’s absence hands an ideal opportunity to the aforementioned duo, with boss Maurice Welch already looking to next season’s challenge.
He said: “Of course it would be nice to finish on a high but we’ve got a few lads missing so it’s an opportunity to look at a few others in the club.
“Hopefully we’ll put on a good performance and learn more about the other lads as we start to look to next season.”
Last week’s 2-0 triumph at Sherborne Town Reserves ended a dismal run of seven games without a win.
And although his men go into tomorrow’s Weymouth College encounter in buoyant mood, Maurice Welch is expecting a tough afternoon against high-flying Sports.
He added: “Westland do not give anything up so they will want to put on a good show and it’ll be a tough game for us.
“But we’re looking forward to it after last week. When the chips are down and we’re up against the better sides, we seem to put on a better performance.
“This will be a different kettle of fish because the team will change a bit, all I want is for the lads to relax and give a good account of themselves.”
