THE future of Weymouth speedway continues to hang in the balance ahead of today’s BSPA declaration meeting.
The purpose of today’s scheduled meeting is for teams to submit their interest in running next season.
However, with the Wildcats yet to find a new owner, despite the interest of two parties, question marks remain over the Radipole Lane outfit’s fate.
A consortium led by former sponsor Harold Doonan and a bid backed by Craig Robinson of Matchams Leisure Park in Ring-wood are both keen to keep the club alive.
But negotiating a new deal with Wessex Delivery Partner-ship, over the Wessex Raceway rent, remains the biggest stumbling block.
Both Doonan and Robinson were yesterday unavailable for comment.
It is thought that Buxton, Dudley, Isle of Wight, King’s Lynn, Newport, Rye House, Scunthorpe and Stoke will all compete in next year’s National League with Mildenhall, Coven-try, Peterborough and Sitting-bourne thought to be possible inclusions.
Plymouth have been elevated to the Premier League while Bournemouth have dropped out altogether.
