PAUL Harding is confident tomorrow’s home clash with Frome Seconds will get the go ahead (2.30pm).
Freezing conditions put paid to a host of fixtures last weekend but with temperatures in the region set to steadily rise both today and tomorrow, Weymouth’s head coach is feeling positive ahead of Frome’s impending visit.
He said: “We trained on Tuesday night and the pitch was fine. It’s supposed to be about eight or nine degrees tomorrow so I would have thought the game will be okay.
“The lads are playing well at the moment but all we can do is concentrate on one game at a time.
“Hopefully we will go out and play well tomorrow, and get a win.”
The Seasiders, who lie six places above their opponents in Dorset & Wilts One South, are set to welcome back Craig Barter and Gareth Iles.
Dorchester also face Frome opposition in the form of the Somerset outfit’s first XV (2.30pm).
The county town side sit three places and nine points clear of tomorrow’s hosts but Frome are on the up following a dismal start to the Southern Counties South campaign.
Dorchester’s head coach Mike Sprules said: “Frome are usually very much near the top of the table so I was surprised to see them near the bottom earlier in the season.
“However, they are stringing some results together and it’ll be another tough one.
“Given the recent weather I don’t know what their pitch is like at the moment. However, given the forecast it will probably go ahead.”
Sprules is sweating on the fitness of Rich Bament (elbow) and Matt Read (hand).
Also in Southern Counties South, struggling Bridport visit fourth-placed Oldfield Old Boys (2.30pm).
With the weather putting Puddle-town’s Dorset & Wilts Two South clash with fellow strugglers Poole in serious doubt, the club has already decided to postpone tomorrow’s vice-presidents and old boys’ lunch until early in the New Year.
A decision as to whether or not the game itself can still go ahead will be made at lunchtime today.
Elsewhere, Swanage & Ware-ham go in search of a fifth straight win in South West One East tomorrow when they visit Bletchley (2.15pm).
