BEN Gerring has set his sights on extending the Terras’ unbeaten home run to eight games when Banbury United visit the south coast on Saturday.
The towering defender was expecting to miss the Zamaretto Premier Division clash through suspension, but instead served his one-match ban on Tuesday night as Weymouth booked their place in the last four of the Dorset Senior Cup.
Gerring is now raring to go this weekend, desperate to protect the Terras’ impressive record at the Bob Lucas Stadium.
He said: “The suspension worked out perfectly and it’s great to see that we have another home game to look forward to.
“We always feel confident at home but all we can do is take things one step at a time.
“At home we are seven unbeaten in all competitions and now only eight points away from safety. We’re definitely not out of it as it’s still early days.”
Boss Ian Hutchinson is delighted to have Gerring at his disposal once again, especially with fellow defender Sam Clarke still nursing a back injury.
The Terras’ chief said: “Sam’s back is still sore and it’s taking longer than we first thought. The physios are working hard with him and he’s got a set programme, which he is sticking to.
“Sam’s been one of the success stories of this season, having come from a lower level to play for us week in, week out, and hopefully he will be back in the squad very soon.”
Meanwhile, former chief executive Gary Calder has completed a takeover of Blue Square Bet Premier outfit Rushden & Diamonds.
Calder is joined at the helm by Liam Beasant, son of Steve Beasant, who failed in an attempt to purchase the Terras last year alongside Chris Ryan.
