CHILDREN of Chickerell are invited to take part in a morning of football fun this Saturday.

Chickerell Primary School is the venue (10am-12pm) with the event, aimed at youngsters aged five to 11, being organised by young people from Youfirst – the young people’s forum for Chickerell – with support from West Dorset District Council’s Emma Scott.

The action packed morning will include a warm-up, keepy uppy challenge, target practice, five-a-side games and a penalty shootout competition.

There will also be lots of new skills to learn and people to meet.

The fun-filled session costs £1 per child and will be run by two accredited sports coaches from the district council.

A drink and a piece of fruit, or a biscuit, will be available to all attending children for only 50p.

Any money raised from the event will help to buy community seating, which the youth forum are hoping to install at Willowbed Field.

Liz Pill, sports development officer at West Dorset District Council, said: “The West Dorset Sports Development Action Van staff will be on hand to lead young players through a number of football challenges.

“This is a great opportunity, welcoming all abilities to get involved in football.”

As well as the sports coaches there will be three CRB-checked adults supervising the event along with a group of young volunteers from the Youfirst group.

Parents do not need to stay with their children, however, if they do wish to drop them off they will be asked for contact details.
