PORTLAND United will be without a handful of players for tomorrow’s Magna Dorset Premier League trip to Parley Sports (3pm).

The missing quintet includes Dan Austin, Ashley Smith, Tom Coggins, Liam Beades and James Turrell, all of who are on holiday.

However, Blues’ boss Stuart Heath, who is hoping to welcome back Adam Linaker (hamstring) and Joe Charles (foot) from injury, is feeling positive ahead of tomorrow’s outing.

He said: “We’ve got quite a few on holiday tomorrow so we’ll be taking a small squad. However, it’s still a good squad and it provides an opportunity to other players, which they must take.

“I think we have played pretty well so far and I think we have deserved to win all of our games, apart from the one against Weymouth Reserves.

“It’s important we keep concentrating on performing well because if we do that the wins and the points will come.

“The players are ambitious but they need to stay patient and not get frustrated.”

Tomorrow’s hosts lie one spot below eighth-placed United but level on points.

Sizing up the opposition, Heath added: “I was impressed with Parley last season and I felt they were one of the best teams to come to Grove Corner last season. They’ve had some decent results and it’ll be interesting to see how they are this year.

“The pitch up there is nice and big, so I’m hoping that will suit us and we can play some good expansive, flowing football.

“If we work hard we will get our rewards sooner rather than later.”

Despite sitting six points adrift of leaders Sherborne Town Reserves, the Blues remain undefeated this season.

Although pleased to be one of four unbeaten teams at this early stage, Heath is keen to start turning draws into wins.

He said: “It’s nice to stay unbeaten for as long as you can but at the same time you do not want to draw too many games and fall behind the teams at the top because playing catch-up can be quite difficult.”
