CHRIS Wilson will be expecting a positive reaction from his players tomorrow when they take on second-bottom Cranborne at Weymouth College (3pm).

The Chickerell boss made a public apology to the club’s fans following last Saturday’s 4-0 stuffing against Sturminster Marshall, which saw his side’s encouraging start to the campaign take a huge hit in a mistake-strewn performance that Wil-son described afterwards as completely “unacceptable”.

The ex-Easton United manager has now charged his side with the task of making an instant amends by downing the Cranes. But with the Bournemouth outfit languishing second from bottom with just one point, he knows his side will be in for another tough battle.

Wilson said: “I am expecting a massive reaction. The manner of the defeat against Sturminster Marshall was embarrassing, both for the players and for me, but now we must turn our intentions to Cran-borne and I will be making sure we are it from the first whistle.

“Last Saturday there were players out there that I did not even recognise but I have been in football long enough to realise that can sometimes happen.

“There were some battered egos after the game and I know they will go out there tomorrow and put it right.

“Cranborne have had a disappointing start and they will be coming here looking to change that but I have every belief in my players that they will bounce back and go out and get the result.”

Grant Chance could be out of a couple of weeks with a suspected cracked rib while Scott Walker and Charlie Kenderdine are both unavailable.

However, Rob Maxted returns to the squad along with Dan Skelton and new-signing Bryn Lewis, who played under Wilson at Easton United last season.
