ROB Marshall fended off Nicky Frewin and Paul Grinter to be crowned RNLI Open champion at West Bay Sea Angling Club.

Marshall’s bounty relegated Frewin and Grinter into second and third place respectively in an event during which only 10 of the 31 competitors caught weighable fish.

Held in aid of the RNLI, the action commenced at 5pm at various spots across West Bay and under cloudy skies with a light breeze.

Species landed included scad, flounder, dogfish, and red and grey mullet. Some of the competitors fishing the Jurassic Pier caught small weevers, but none was sizeable enough to be weighed.

West Bay Sea Angling Club would like to thank those that donated prizes and also the competitors for fishing the event.
