BRENDON King has urged his blossoming stars to give first-team boss Ian Hutchinson a major headache by producing the goods against local rivals Chickerell United at the Bob Lucas Stadium tonight (7.30pm).

Hutchinson will run his eyes over the second-string this evening and King is hoping for a similar performance to the one that handed them a 3-2 victory against Bridport Reserves on Saturday.

He said: “Hutch will be there watching tonight and it is up to the lads to go out there and give him a major headache.

“In order to put pressure on him they will need to perform and play the same as they did at Bridport where we knocked the ball around with great passing and movement.

“If they do that and show the same character as they did on Saturday then there is every chance that Hutch could call them up.”

King led the Chickens to runners-up spot in the Magna Dorset Premier League last season and he is expecting a tough encounter.

Commenting on his former club, he added: “They will be tough opponents. Chris Wilson will have his side set up and they have some decent players although only a few remain from during my time there.

“Craig Roper is one of them and he is a very under-rated player in my opinion, so we will certainly have to keep our eye on him.

“It is another local derby for us to really look forward to, particularly the likes of Ashley Weeks and John Litherland who were there with me last season, and hope-fully it will attract a good crowd. It will certainly be nice to see a few friends from last year.”

Former first-team star Mark Robinson will return for the Terras but Lewis Ironside and Alex Halloran are both unavailable. On the injury front, Jordan Vincent has sustained suspected knee ligament damage and will miss out, while Litherland and Lewis Whyton are both doubts with calf and thigh problems respectively.

Meanwhile, Wilson is looking forward to taking charge of his first competitive game after missing the Chickens’ opening three encounters, which saw stand-in boss Terry Oldrid lead the side to six points with wins over Blandford United and Parley Sports.

Wilson said: “I am certainly looking forward to seeing the lads in action but I cannot just jump straight back in.

“By all accounts we have been doing well so instead I will probably take a backseat and watch the first half from the stand, which will be difficult for me as I like to kick every ball.

“Weymouth will be tough opponents there is no doubt about that so it is going to be a big test.

“And I am sure they will have a couple of ex-Chickens in their side who would love to get one over on their former club.”
