A BIG crowd is expected to pay tribute to late club chairman Bob Lucas tonight when the Terras tackle Swindon Supermarine in the first competitive fixture to take place at the newly-named Bob Lucas Stadium (7.45pm).

The former Weymouth physio and keeper sadly passed away last Thursday and with half of this evening’s gate receipts going to his bereaved family, Terras’ boss Ian Hutchinson is hoping that the town with turnout in their droves for the Zamaretto Premier Division clash.

He said: “The fact half the gate receipts will go to Bob’s family is a marvellous gesture from the chairman George Rolls.

“Not only is Bob a huge part of this football club but his wife Jean is as well. They were a great double act and for her to be there tonight will be a great honour on what will no doubt be a poignant and emotional occasion.

“The club has a lot of love for Jean and we are here for her as people to help her through such a difficult time.

“And that is why I am hoping as many people as possible turnout to pay their respects to the great man and show their appreciation for all the support and hard work both Bob and Jean have given the club over so many years.

“I have spoken to many people in the town about Bob and not one person has had a bad word to say about him, which says a lot about the man. He has been an inspiration to many, including me.”

A minute’s silence will be held before kick-off and the players will don black armbands, just as they did during Saturday’s hard-fought 0-0 draw at Halesowen Town.
