PAUL Payne will be without the experienced quartet of Michael Pearce, Laurie Whyte, Dean Janaway and Matt Lawes for tomorrow’s key game at the Delph (1.30pm).

Following back-to-back defeats against Marnhull and Bland-ford, the Seasiders have slipped into a precarious position in the Dorset Premier League.

Weymouth currently sit fourth bottom and with Wimborne & Colehill and Ferndown Wayfar-ers nipping at their heels, losing four key players at such a crucial stage of the summer is far from ideal.

Skipper Payne said: “Having four players unavailable for such an important game is very frustrating but we have some good players coming in so hopefully we can go to Broadstone and still come home with a good result.

“We need as many points as we can get at the moment. The Delph has not been the best place for us to get results over the past few years but it is up to us to change that and put in a good performance, particularly with the bat.

“The players we have in the side are good players, and we are just waiting for it all to click again. Hopefully, tomorrow we will do that but it won’t be easy.

“The pitch at the Delph has not been renowned this year as a high scoring one so it is going to be a big challenge for us, and for Broadstone.”

Commenting on the reinforcements he has had to bring in, Payne added: “Andy Bray returns to first-team action and so does Dave Trotter.

They both come up from the seconds, along with Ben Ladd-Gibbon, who deserves his chance following some promising performances this summer.

“We are also hoping to have Dan Hutchens back fit. He will be assessed in the nets tonight but fingers crossed he will be okay.”

Despite missing out on the trip to Broadstone, Lawes could feature for the second string. The bowler is due to return from a golfing holiday tomorrow morning but it is hoped he will make it home in time to turn out at Redlands.

Weymouth: Payne, Ryall, Armfield, Fitzgerald, McKay, Falloon, Doidge, Bray, Ladd-Gibbon, Trotter, Hutchens.

* John Ryan has called up Luke Carrington and Harry Tucker for Weymouth Seconds’ Division One clash against Winton Sports at Redlands (2pm).

The Seasiders have been forced to make four changes to the side that lost at Sherborne last week with Andy Jarvis and Matt Lawes also being drafted in.

Bray, Ladd-Gibbon and Trotter have been called up to the first team while Neil Walton is sidelined with a hamstring injury. Weymouth Seconds: Ryan, Womble, Carrington, Mote, Almond, Ul-Haq, Tucker, Mitchem, C Lawes, M Lawes, Jarvis.

* Weymouth Thirds will be keen to get their title bid back on track when they visit Henstridge in Division Five. The table-toppers suffered defeat last weekend against their closest rivals, Winton Sports Seconds.
