MANAGER Trevor Senior has urged his troops to guard against complacency ahead of tonight’s showdown at Elmore (7.45pm).

Senior oversaw an opening-day victory against Bradford Town on Saturday and will lead Bridport to Horsdon Park with the task of maintaining their 100 per cent record.

The Bees have been installed as favourites to clinch maximum points after Elmore suffered a 5-0 drubbing at home to Oldland Abbotonians at the weekend.

However, Senior was quick to downplay the significance of the Eagles’ travails and instead chose to concentrate on keeping his side completely focused on the job at hand.

Referring to Elmore’s defeat, he said: “If you look at the details of the game it wasn’t as one-sided as it seems, as they had two players sent off when the score was 1-0.

“From out point of view, we played very well against Bradford but every game is different. It’s easy to start trying to run before you can walk.

“It’s important we don’t become complacent and, knowing the players as I do, I’m sure we won’t. Getting a positive result would be a great way to sign off before our FA Cup match on Saturday.”

Senior is set to keep faith with the starting XI that outshone Bradford – despite the return of Dan Wise, who was unavailable for the curtain-raiser.

The talismanic midfielder was best man at his brother’s wedding and will have to make do with a place on the substitutes’ bench alongside Shane Evans and Matt Moors.

Senior said: “Dan comes back into the squad for Roger Cummings, who hasn’t done anything wrong and is an excellent clubman. I can’t afford to leave a guy as talented as Dan out of the squad.

“But he will have to wait for his chance because I am not going to change the team that did so well on Saturday. It would be wrong of me to do so.”

Another boost for Senior is the revelation that talented teenager Jamie Symes is no longer attached to Dorchester Town having rejected the chance to pen a new deal.

Symes made just one appearance for the Magpies last season and has opted to direct his energies solely on helping Bridport in their quest to gain promotion.

And Senior, a big admirer of the 17-year-old, added: “Jamie is quite happy playing for us and that is good news. He is getting regular football here and is improving all the time because of that.

“He’s still very young and I’m sure he will end up playing at a higher level, but hopefully that might be with us if we get promoted.”
