TRIALIST goalkeeper Mike Hookway has left Dorchester Town.

The 28-year-old made five appearances for the Magpies during pre-season but has failed to oust Simon Evans as the main challenger to Regan Coward.

Hookway has now joined Zamaretto Division One South & West side Sholing – whom he played against in a 4-2 win for the Magpies almost two weeks ago.

Boss Ashley Vickers, whose side take on Weymouth in a friendly at the Bob Lucas Stadium today (3pm), praised Evans for the way he has fought back following a five-month injury lay-off.

He said: “Mike has gone to Sholing as I’ve been impressed with Simon and how he has come to the fore.

“Simon’s done well to come back from injury in the way that he has and I’m confident that he and Regan will bring the best out of each other.”

Vickers also revealed that the county town side hope to complete the signing of ex-Weymouth striker Stuart Douglas in time for next Saturday’s curtain-raiser at Bromley.

He added: “We should have some thing sorted for Dougie so hopefully it will all be done before the start of the season.”

n Dorchester Town Supporters Trust will be running a 17-seat minibus to a number of fixtures during the forthcoming season.

All fans are welcome regardless of whether they are a member of the Trust or not.

The first trip is away to Bromley next Saturday. The cost of the trip is £10 for Trust members and £12 for non-members.
