THE clock is ticking for teams to enter the Gary Allen five-a-side memorial tournament.

The charity event, which used to be run by Allen before he lost his battle with cancer earlier this year, is being held at Redlands on Sunday, August 22 (10.30am).

And organiser Luke Tomlin is urging teams to come forward. He said: “We need roughly another 10 teams and it would be great to see any of Gary’s old friends get a team together.

“It costs £20 for each team to enter but you can have a maximum of eight players per team so it’s not a lot of money to ask for from each player.

“Mandy and the gang from the Duke of Albany will provide a cold buffet, as part of their donation to the event, while Gary’s wife Carole and some of her friends will be doing hot potatoes – which was a favourite of Gary’s.

“Vaughan Carter has agreed to host the auction and the disco after the football while Micky Boucher of MB Engin-eering has donated prizes for the auction.

“We’re going to have raffle as well, so it would be great if people could donate prizes to that.

“I’d also like to thank Dean Hetherington and everyone else at Redlands for letting us use the facilities free of charge.”
