TAG Rugby on Weymouth Beach is proving very popular with local children and holiday-makers this summer according to Glyn Arnold.
The Weymouth RFC chairman has been impressed by the turnout at the weekly sessions and the enthusiasm and ability of the youngsters that have been taking part.
He said: “We have been running tag rugby on the beach for the last couple of weeks and it has been very well supported by local children and a few holidaymakers as well.
“The sessions are structured in age boundaries and they allow boys and girls to play 20-minute games, which are all centred around fun although there is some coaching on offer as well.
“All of the youngsters are picking it up very quickly and I am pleased to say that most of the local junior schools have also been taking part in our Inter-Schools Tournament, which has also been very well supported.”
Tag Rugby will continue on Weymouth Beach throughout the summer.
The sessions take place on the stretch of sand adjacent to the Alexandra Gardens complex between 6.30pm and 8pm every Wednesday and everyone is welcome.
