WEYMOUTH’S Ryan Stout regained his British under-16 national title and at the same time added the under-18 crown.
The Budmouth College student was playing alongside Welsh partner Aiden Lewis at the Sandbanks showpiece and they totally dominated the event – failing to drop a single set in either age group.
In the under-16 competition, the duo comfortably came through the early rounds before winning the final 21-13, 21-15.
Stout and Lewis found life a bit tougher in the under-18 contest with some hard games against members of the Great Britain Under-18 indoor side.
However, they still managed to come out on top and won the final 21-7, 21-19.
Stout’s next event will be his first experience of top-level adult competition on his home beach – next weekend’s 28th Weymouth Classic.
He will be playing alongside Terry Oldrid with the pair being granted a wildcard entry into the main draw because of their impressive lead in the Weymouth Beach League.
It will be a great opportunity for this local team to showcase their talents against the best in Britain.
Meanwhile, in the Weymouth Beach League, Stout endured a disappointing evening in difficult wet conditions as he and makeshift partner Mike Powell went out in the semi-finals to Rob Semmence and Dom Cosserat, 21-12.
The winning duo then faced Jules Stout and Alessio Boniolo in the final where they enjoyed a 21-15 triumph to claim their first event win for five weeks – moving them up to second place in the rankings.
