BUDMOUTH 43 POOLE HIGH 33
INVINCIBLE Budmouth Technology College Sixth Form capped a remarkable season by defeating Poole High School in the final of the Dorset Cup.
Budmouth, who entered the showpiece boasting an unblemished record, outclassed their opponents with an indomitable defence and a slick, intelligent offence.
Poole had been determined not to surrender without a fight and they battled hard to trail by just a single point, 8-7, at the end of the first quarter.
However, a series of three-pointers from Jack Speary, as well as multiple offensive rebounds, catapulted the Weymouth outfit into a 25-14 advantage at the halfway stage.
Budmouth challenged for every ball and finished the game 10 points clear of Poole High thanks to skipper Gareth Williams, who led the team home with eight consecutive lay-ups.
