DORSET Senior League champions Easton United will not defend their title this season after deciding to fold.
The Portlanders, who had formed a link with the YOI to keep going last summer, were rocked by the news that they would not be eligible for promotion to the Dorset Premier League following their championship success.
Manager Chris Wilson, whose wife Nikki was the club secretary, left to join Chickerell United as their new boss and no-one has been found to take on the club since.
“It’s been the same with any club on Portland and I hope Galaxy Windows buck the trend,” said Wilson. “It’s happened with Weston twice and Portland Wanderers.
“I tried and tried and tried to keep it going and went down the comm-unity route but people didn’t want to know.
“The YOI saved us last year but I didn’t think I could progress with the club so I stepped away. But no-one else was willing to get behind the club, so it’s finished.”
