KIERON Morrissey and Justin Smith booked their place in the semi-finals of the Weymouth Town Tournament with a straight sets victory over Dorchester’s Skidmore brothers.
Alex and Ben Skidmore fought valiantly but were no match for their opponents as Morrisey and Smith moved one step closer to the final of the men’s doubles, winning 6-3, 6-1.
The younger of the two brothers, Ben, also suffered defeat in the men’s singles after going down 6-1, 6-1 against seasider Adam Fraser.
Bridport’s Amy Nicholson continued her inexorable march towards the women’s final with another routine straight sets win – 6-0, 6-0 – in her clash with Gemma Alcock.
Rhose Lawes and Clif Moreton bagged another couple of wins in the group stages of the mixed doubles to secure their passage to the latter stages.
In the same competition, Morrisey teamed up with Zoë Acutt to overcome Kate Meacham and Matthew Brook, 7-6, 6-1.
