THE race for the Dorchester Evening League Division Two crown could take an interesting turn this evening.
Bere Regis and Abbotsbury remain level pegging with eight wins apiece, however, the former has so far played one match fewer.
The second tier’s top two meet at Townsend tonight (6.30pm) in what promises to be a crucial clash.
And there was no let up in the latest round of fixtures, as Bere Regis (108-3) defeated Frampton (104-4) and Abbotsbury (126-3) got the better of Winfrith (125-7).
Ben Meaden (34) and Steve Cheeseman (2-30) led Bere to two precious points in their game while Will McKay’s (54) half-century and John Armfield’s (3-31) three wickets secured victory for Abbotsbury.
Elsewhere in Division Two, Martin Langford returned impressive figures of 4-14 as third-placed Cattistock (97-2) prevailed over Charlton Down (96-9).
Neil Kellaway (49) fell agonisingly short of a half-century but found consolation in the fact his knock helped Cerne Valley (139-5) triumph against Dewlish (134-7) in Division One.
Tom Hewish (51) did reach his half-ton but it was not enough to prevent the latter falling to defeat.
In Division Three, Martinstown Seconds (136-7) beat Colliton Club (135-9) to move level on points with their second-placed opponents.
Ian Croft (2-9) snared two wickets and then contributed 13 runs as Churches United (62-7) overcame basement boys Charlton Down Seconds (60ao).
