WEYMOUTH schoolboy Charlie Samouelle is the new 10 and under British Biathlon champion.
Samouelle travelled to Wavertree Sports Park, in Liverpool, as part of the Dorset Pentathletes team having qualified for the national competition after winning the South West regional qualifier at Millfield School, Somerset, earlier this year.
The seasider competed in a field of 25 boys from all over the country.
And he produced a stunning display to win the 50m swim and then take the overall title following an impressive 1,000m run.
Samouelle also scooped gold in the team event alongside fellow Dorset Pentathletes Callum Mullins and William Blackledge.
Charlie’s mum Julie was thrilled to see her son return home as a national champion.
She said: “He trains most week nights with the Tornadoes of South Dorset Swimming Club and most weekends with Dorset Pentathletes, so I really feel he deserves this success.”
