ASHLEY Vickers has challenged his Dorchester Town trialists to seize the opportunity in front of them.

A host of county town wannabes took to the field at the weekend but slumped to a 2-0 defeat at Zamaretto Division One S&W outfit Wimborne Town.

Dorchester boss Vickers though, declared himself happy with the trialists’ efforts.

Trying their luck with the Blue Square Bet South Magpies were keeper Mike Hookway, wide men Charlie Knight, Owain Warlow and Antony Carlile, midfielder Casius Newton, strikers Rico Wilson and Tom Richardson and under-18 graduates Adam Taylor and Dan Spencer.

Vickers said: “They are all welcome to stay during pre-season. The opportunity is there for someone to come and grasp a contract with us.

“These opportunities don’t come around too often so if they can take it with both hands then fantastic.

“I was pleased with their effort and their attitude, and there are one or two things that we can pursue.”

Dorchester face a friendly double-header this weekend as Crawley Town and Dagenham & Redbridge visit on Friday night (7.45pm) and Saturday afternoon (3pm) respectively.
