MICHAEL Watson has missed the cut at the Scottish Open, dashing his hopes of reaching this year’s Open Champion-ship in the process.
The Wessex Golf Centre professional finished 11 over par after yesterday’s second round at Loch Lomond.
European Ryder Cup captain Colin Montgomerie also made an early exit from the four-day European Tour event.
After carding 76 – five over par – on the first day of competition, Watson parred the opening two holes yesterday before a double bogey on the third, and a bogey on the fourth, put him eight over par.
The 40-year-old birdied the ninth but four more bogeys, on the 10th, 16th, 17th and 18th, saw him close on 77.
