SEVERAL players have made the switch across the Ridgeway from Weymouth to Dorchester Town in the past 18 months but heading back the other way this week was commercial manager Geoff Claridge.

Kyle Critchell, Jamie Frampton, Scott Brice and Josh Llewellyn are just some of those to change their Dorset allegiance from the Terras to the Magpies in recent times.

But the signing of Claridge as commercial manager is a massive boost for Weymouth, according to associate director Simon Etherington.

“We are delighted to welcome Geoff to the club as commercial manager,” said Etherington. “We are looking forward to using his 15 years of experience from a similar role at Dorchester Town Football Club to help Weymouth Football Club promote itself to the local business community and sell our various sponsorship and commercial packages that are available.”

Claridge added: “There are businesses who want Weymouth to succeed and I believe I can help Weymouth get back to where they belong.

“It’s a challenge I’m really looking forward to and I hope people will back Weymouth Football Club.

“It’s my job to get people on board now.

“Dorchester will always be in my blood but this is a new venture I’m really looking forward to.”
