SUNNINGHILL Preparatory School’s first mini-sports festival proved a resounding success.
The event, aimed at Year Three pupils from Sunninghill and fellow Dorchester schools Manor Park and St Mary’s, saw pupils take part in coaching sessions in several sports, including lacrosse, football and hockey.
Kate Gerrard, who is the head of girls’ games and PE at Sunninghill, helped organise the festival alongside Demelza Roberts and Dale Rholes from the West Dorset School Sports Championship.
Gerrard said: “It was a fantastic day of sport and all the children involved thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Hopefully this will become an annual event and we are hoping to arrange similar festivals next year.
“I would like thank all the teachers and coaches that ran the sessions on the day including Mr Gadston, Mr Smith, Mr Caldwell, Mrs Bailey and Mrs Stoot, and Demelza Roberts for all her help and support.
“But most of all I would like to thank the children involved for being so enthusiastic and helping make the festival a huge success.”
