DORCHESTER and District Skittle League celebrated the end of an exciting season with a presentation night at the Trinity Club.
Around 290 members attended the evening and after the presentation of the trophies there was a very successful draw which raised over £80 towards league funds.
Andy and Michelle Sharpe of Whitefield Printing Services, who print the league handbook, presented teams with their prizes.
The 2008/09 season was a huge success with plenty of exciting fixtures, but it was Patriots who took the top honour, winning Section A of the men’s competition.
Hammers captured Section B, Strimmers were crowned Section C champions while Trinity Tankers took the Section D crown.
Barmy Army scooped the Knockout Cup with Swan Abbots taking the Plate.
In the ladies’ competition, Oakettes remained unbeaten in Section A and deservedly won the title. Section B saw Cheeky Pinky Girls finish top after winning a play-off.
The Knockout Cup and Plate were won by Colliton Nik Naks and Crackerjacks respectively.
There was more success for Barmy Army as Luke Short triumphed in the Singles.
The Sticker-up Cup went the way of Michael Bolton while Strimmers’ Mark Cope and Mike Notley won the Pairs.
Matt Payne collected the Secretary’s Shield for the men with Eileen Lewis winning the ladies’ equivalent.
The final award, the Wooden Spoon, was presented to Blackjacks.
