MARTYN Richards is calling on his troops to raise their game even further at Parley tomorrow (1.30pm).

Dorchester may have recorded their first win of the Dorset Premier League campaign against Stalbridge last weekend, but the skipper believes there is still plenty of room for improvement.

The reigning champions remain in the bottom three and will have their work cut out to close the gap on leaders Poole Town.

Richards said: “Parley won a close game at Redlands last week so they’ve got some form behind them going into tomorrow.

“We’ve got to raise our game again and hopefully we’ll be motivated enough to try and score more runs and take more wickets. Last week felt like normality again while in the games before that we were simply not good enough.

“It’s nice to return to winning ways and we’ll be looking to keep that going tomorrow, hoping to continue our improvement.

“We’ve still got a long way to go before we reach the level we were at last year but I’m sure the boys will work hard to get there.”

Opening batsman Steve Gerety is unavailable for tomorrow’s trip as is Phil Morley. Therefore teenagers James Dunham and Hugh Pryce step in with the latter earning his Premier League debut.

Richards added: “It’s a shame Steve and Phil are unavailable but James comes back in and we’re looking forward to seeing him back as he bowled fantastically well in the opening two games. We’ve decided to hand a Premier League debut to Hugh as he’s a very promising 16-year-old.

“I’m also looking forward to seeing Dan Belt bowl on a hard track tomorrow as I think he’ll be a fearsome opponent.”
