PUMP It Strouder and Hawks Academy are a step closer to Wembley after winning the local qualifier of the Umbro Fives at the Wessex Stadium.
Both teams have now qualified for the regional finals at Plymouth on May 31 when three teams will progress to the national finals and a dream date at Wembley.
Strouder won through to the next stage of the competition courtesy of a 2-0 semi-final win over Zenos while the Hawks saw off Duke of Albany A 1-0 in their last four clash.
There was further joy for Pump It as Matt Moors’ 11 goals saw him finish the day as top goalscorer while John Litherland scooped the Player of the Day award.
Event organiser, and member of the Albany side, Luke Tomlin said: “It went very well. We had 16 teams there and the standard was very good. A lot of the teams were from Portland, Weymouth and Dorchester but we did have two Havant & Waterlooville Academy sides and one team from Portsmouth.
“I’d like to take the opportunity to thank Weymouth Football Club for letting us use the pitch, Tim Davis from WFC for help with the goals, Fred Dunford and Mark Rogers.”
