NEW Terras’ boss Matty Hale has made former Wales Under-21 international Dean Grubb his first acquisition at the Wessex Stadium.

Hale, who was only handed the hot-seat on Monday, swooped for the ex-Weston-super-Mare winger yesterday afternoon when he also confirmed that he is in advanced talks with several other potential signings.

Grubb, 21, finished last season at Gloucester City where he helped the club win promotion to Blue Square South from the BGB Southern Premier League and Hale is confident he will prove to be an exciting purchase.

He said: “I was with Dean at Weston-super-Mare and he was also at Bristol City as a young pro when I used to coach there so I know a lot about him and I am delighted to have captured his services.

“He is a flying winger with a lot of pace and if we can get him to perform consistently like I know he can then I am confident he will prove to be a great signing that the fans will love.

“He has had a good upbringing, he is great technically, and he has experience at this level so there is no doubt he is an exciting prospect and that is why he was one of my main targets.”

And it appears it will not be long before Grubb is joined at the Terras by a flurry of other new faces. Hale added: “There are quite a few things happening but I cannot say anything concrete until things have been done. Like I said, I have a list of targets but I do want to take a look at players during pre-season as well, so we will just have to see how things shape up.”
