DORSET manager Sean Walbridge has backed Aaron Williams to produce the goods against Lincolnshire at Bracebridge Heath tomorrow.
The ex-Devon star has been called up to replace the unavailable Chris Jones while Roger Sillence and Dave Kidner both return as the Dean Park outfit look to seal back-to-back wins in group four of the MCCA Knockout Trophy.
However, they are likely to face stiff opposition against a Lincolnshire side that tops the table with two wins from two.
Their latest victory came last week at Buckinghamshire where they won by five runs thanks to fine bowling from Brett Houston (4-31) and Gareth Clough (3-32).
Walbridge, whose side lost against Bucks by five wickets in their opening fixture, said: “Lincolnshire have won both their first two games in the competition but there is certainly nothing there for us to fear.
“We played them for the first time last year at Sherborne School where they narrowly beat us but we have more than enough quality in our side to go there and win.
“And that is exactly what we need to do in-order to set us up nicely for the game against Wales on May 31.
“Darren Cowley is obviously out due to the broken and dislocated ankle he picked up in the warm-up against Cambridgeshire last weekend, and we will also be without the services of Chris Jones and Max Waller.
“Chris is unavailable due to exams while Max is still required by Somerset who have got two games this weekend.
“However, experienced all-rounder Roger Sillence and Dave Kidner have returned, and Aaron Williams will come in as a replacement for Chris.
“Aaron transferred to us from Devon in the close season and we are confident in what he can do. He is playing club cricket for Alton in the Southern League and I know he is looking forward to tomorrow’s opportunity.”
Dorchester star Dan Belt has retained his place in the Dorset side. And the talented all-rounder will no doubt be hoping to build on the impressive individual performance he produced last weekend in the two-wicket victory over Cambridgeshire when he took 3-39 before helping lead his side home with nine not out in a high-pressured run chase.
